Expansion: Alhamdulillah, The planning commission board of the City of Warren has approved the expansion plans for the IONA masjid. We recently submitted the plans to be approved by the zoning board of appeals.
The current social hall will be added to the main men’s prayer area and the extended area will be our social hall with larger space than we currently have for the sisters on the second floor. The new addition will feature a basement for multi-purpose use. The cost of this project will exceed $1,500,000.00 and your financial support for the final phase of the expansion is greatly appreciated and will be considered Sadaqah Jariyah, a perpetual, continuous charity. You may donate any amount. No amount is too small to give. We have done well by the grace of Allah and your support and expanded much since we opened up IONA in 2007, Alhamdulillah. With God's help, together we will struggle for a better future and expand our Center to accommodate the needs of our community and our next generations.
Cafe/Soup Kitchen: Alhamdulillah, IONA’s soup kitchen for the homeless, poor, and needy is now operational. The annual projected cost to operate the soup kitchen is $50,000. This covers the food, labor, and utilities to feed the hungry. Your donation to the soup kitchen is Zakat eligible and may Allah reward you for supporting the needy in community.
Zakatul Mal: Zakatul Mal is strictly distributed to the poor, needy, and any zakat eligible person or cause in our local community.
Zakah for Dawah: A portion of Zakatul Mal may be spent on dawah purposes as it falls in “In the Cause of Allah” category and scholars of Islam have approved this type of zakah. IONA separates the zakah due to the poor and zakah spent on printing brochures and other materials and other related dawah programs.
Masjid Donation: The donations are spent on utilities, maintenance, salaries, dawah, insurance, etc. IONA’s 2023/2024 budget exceeds $300,000. Helping us meet the demands of the community is greatly appreciated.
Zakatul Fitr or Fitra: Fitra is $15.00 per person per household. Fitra money must be paid before the day of Eid ul Fitr. The money collected goes to poor and needy people.
