“Meet Your Neighbors” Symposium In Warren
The Islamic Organization of North America (IONA), in cooperation with the National Conference for Community and Justice (NCCJ) and the Council on American – Islamic Relations, Michigan Chapter (CAIR-MI) is organizing a “Meet your Neighbors – Examining the Shared Heritage of Faith” symposium to be held on Thursday, June 8, 2006 at the Warren Community Center Auditorium (5460 Arden, Warren MI).
Guest speakers include Fr. Gary Schulte, St. Sylvester Church; Barbara Sollose, president of the Central Homeowners of Warren; Dawud Walid, executive director of CAIR-MI, and Steve Mustapha Elturk, imam and president of IONA. The program will be moderated by Rev. Sharon Buttry, from the NCCJ.
We expect a wide range of guests including local community organizations, civic and religious leaders, education professionals and law enforcement personnel, as well as local media. Refreshments will be available.
IONA’s mission is to transform its members and help transform the surrounding communities to righteous, God-fearing people, who collectively strive for the highest moral standard and constantly seek forgiveness from our Creator to earn His pleasure. We seek His compassion and mercy in this life and in the hereafter. We rejuvenate our soul through internal struggle and spiritual exercise in worship of our creator God. The strength of our belief in God gives us the courage to establish good and forbid evil, thus promoting a system of justice for all mankind.
