CAIR-MI links Warren mosque vandalism to pattern of hate crime attacks across the US

WARREN, Mich. – The Michigan chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-MI), part of the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, announced a $1,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction related to recent vandalism at a mosque.
The incident occurred at a mosque in Warren between late Saturday (Sept. 6) and early Sunday morning.
Officials at the Islamic Organization of North America (IONA) reported damage to their mosque, including its expansion project and construction equipment.
The vandalism involved wall damage, broken windows, and graffiti on the floor and construction equipment.
Mosque officials have reported the incident to the Warren Police Department.
Walid, who regularly leads prayers at the mosque, noted that IONA was the first mosque established in Warren.
It has faced significant anti-Muslim opposition and has been vandalized and threatened multiple times.
CAIR-MI’s call for investigation follows similar actions by CAIR chapters elsewhere.
Recently, CAIR-Minnesota urged a probe into a possible bias motive after an arson attack on a mosque in Bloomington, Minnesota.
