Warren mosque vandalized, prompting calls for hate crime investigation
$1,000 reward offered for information leading to an arrest

WARREN, Mich. – The Michigan chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-MI) is offering a $1,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest in connection with recent vandalism at a mosque in Warren.
The organization is also urging authorities to investigate the incident as a possible hate crime.
The vandalism took place at the Islamic Organization of North America (IONA) on Ryan Road sometime between late Saturday night, Sept. 6, and early Sunday morning, Sept. 7, 2025.
Damage included broken windows, wall damage, and graffiti on the mosque floor and construction equipment.
“We call on anyone who witnessed this vandalism or was told about this criminal act to immediately contact the Warren Police Department,” CAIR-MI Executive Director Dawud Walid said. “There is no valid justification for anyone to vandalize private property, especially a house of worship.”
Walid, who regularly leads prayers at the mosque, highlighted that the Islamic Organization of North America was the first mosque established in Warren.
The mosque has faced significant anti-Muslim opposition and has been vandalized and threatened multiple times in the past.
The mosque officials have filed a report with the Warren Police Department, which is currently investigating the case.
